A selfie is just a picture

I'm not a hater of selfies but they have become so common nowadays that i can't help but say that a selfie is just a picture. It rarely has a hidden meaning and it rarely shows anything new to the ones glancing at it.

Most of the selfies are taken just to show the other people how much fun you're having or pretending to have. So, you're bragging with a selfie that shows mostly, a feeling you're not really having at that moment.

What happened to surprising the person and capturing an honest emotion on their face because they were not expecting to be captured. What happened to blending in with the background so you can create a form of art within the geometrical shape of the buildings behind you? What happened to actually trying to get a good photograph of yourself that shows your honest self and not the mask that you're wearing in front of the camera?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a selfie is worth only one word and that could only be summed up by the word " false".

What is the person doing? Oh, she's excited to have a big hamburger next to her face but is she really? I keep wondering if she isn't actually thinking if she can actually eat that or if the taste is as good as it looks. It\'s possible she could actually be wondering why she went into that challenge to eat a big hamburger. Is she excited? Not really because i think the feelings are more complex than that.

Can you show them through selfies? It's very rare that i've seen that happen so my general opinion would be no unless you catch a sudden micro expression. So, why not try and take more honest selfies instead of, just selfies?
